A BIG drum roll please for a new flavour bomb on the Peninsula, The Indian Street at Galleria Ettalong Beach just opened this week. This amazing Northern Indian Restaurant (with a spattering of your southern favourites) is a real contender for “Best Indian Resturant” on The Coast (imo)!Located on the carpark side of the Ettalong Galleria, this new kid on the block, has a welcoming atmosphere; lovely open & spacious decor, & friendly staff who are happy to recommend signature dishes based on your “heat preferences”. Follow your nose around the Galleria corridors & you’ll find yourself breathing in the exotic aromas of cumin, mustard oil & fenugreek that will point you in their direction. We indulged in a “Indian Street Food Platter” for two that had a combination of tandoori chicken tikka, tandoori prawns & fried fish served with a mint sauce.Mains were Chicken Tikka Masala (one of their signature dishes) & Lamb Rogan Josh & a side of butter naan.I can’t highlight anything in particular as each & every morsel of food was absolutely flavour packed & scrumptious to the point, we scraped every little bit of sauce from each dish with our naan🤷🏻‍♀️😂Special shout out to the Butter Naan bread😳, a light delicate mix between Naan & Roti that did not overwhelm the meal with heaviness, & was flexible enough to really “swish around” the bowl to ensure all the sauce could be scraped💞Chef Raj, formerly of the Grand Pavillion (Ettalong & Terrigal for 9 years), is bringing his signature flavours to his new venture, clearly with love & passion for his cuisine. They’ve just received their liquor license this week, but will remain BYO, for the foreseeable future👏🏻👏🏻Also, there’s a little cocktail bar at the side of the restaurant, due to open shortly, where you will be able to just pop in for a drink & enjoy some Indian Street Food snacks! I’m looking forward to this opening too.Prices are very affordable, our meal was around $80 for 2 persons.I doubt they’ll be taking “walk ins” for long as I expect when word gets out, bookings will be scarce. I’ll definitely be a regular & I’ve already lined up some friends for a visit as well as my fam bam🙏🏻
